Meet the Coach - GAY BENNETT
I have been coaching basketball at Linfield for the past several years, both at the Middle School and High School level. I have been coaching organized basketball for over 12 years. In addition to my coaching experience, I also played at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

This year I am striving to teach the girls what it means to be part of a team. Putting others first and self-sacrifice is not just part of High School basketball, it’s about life and I want my girls to embrace this concept this season. I want them to truly know what it means to be a Lady Lion with a sense of “team, effort, commitment, and integrity."

One of my most memorable experiences as coach was last year’s 43-42 victory against Woodcrest Christian at Azusa Pacific University. The game had little bearing on the season, but playing in a college gymnasium against a team we did not expect to beat was awesome. Seeing the look of amazement, wonder and disbelief was a great way to start the season!

Having the opportunity to build relationships with the players and to see a player succeed are the most enjoyable aspects of being a coach. It is truly amazing and such a blessing to be able to teach principles that can be applied today as well as tomorrow in each of their lives!
