MIDDLE SCHOOL FINE ARTS
Students in Middle School Band will form the foundation for Concert, Marching, Pep and Jazz Bands. Weekly semi-private instrumental lessons and full-band rehearsals are offered to all who desire to learn. Instructions will be available for wind instruments, including flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, and trombone. Students who play string instruments such as piano, bass, guitar, or drums may be considered by audition only. Two seasonal performances are planned each year.
The Drama program introduces 7th and 8th grade students to theatre. It is a performance based course that includes acting, singing, and dancing. This group of students will be performing in the high school spring musical and organizing “That’s Entertainment” as a production project for their fellow students. Through monologues, improvisation and scene work the students will begin to explore the world of theater.
If a student would like the opportunity to help lead and plan Middle School Chapel, then joining Student Leadership/ASB is the best course. Another creative class designed for Middle School students is Art. This class studies art elements such as line, texture, shape, color, value and composition through painting. Students learn basic strategies to explore familiar objects and places in today’s culture.
