Kristy Ness

Class of 2010
After graduating from Linfield in 2010, Kristy attended Point Loma Nazarene University to study nursing. She passed her NCLEX Nursing State Board Exams and currently works at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego as a full time RN in the Emergency Department. In 2020, she also earned her doctorate and became a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. Her doctoral dissertation was focused on Trauma Informed Care, helping patients who are victims of human trafficking, domestic violence and neglect. Kristy is involved in a church called Grace San Diego and often volunteers with their homeless ministry, and she’s been on many medical mission trips to Haiti, the Philippines, and West Africa.

She notes how unique her experience at Linfield was and is grateful for the opportunities she was given. She says, “Linfield was amazing. Not only did it prepare me with the knowledge needed to enter rigorous college courses and a tough career like Nursing, it also gave me the motivation and drive to want to find a career that would help others. I went to Linfield K-12, and I believe the experience instilled in me the desire to serve others and serve the Lord in all I do. Nursing (and now NP school) has been challenging for sure, but it is the most rewarding profession, and I’m so thankful that my years at Linfield have led me to this point. I also think back to how I gained incredible friendships with my peers, but also with Linfield’s faculty and staff. The teachers truly cared about each student and wanted us to succeed. They encouraged us in academics and athletics, but they were also so invested in us as people and genuinely wanted us to seek out a relationship with our Savior. I’m so thankful to have gone to a school like that.”
