Trenton Bernard

Class of 2018
After graduating from Linfield in 2018, Trenton attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA and received his degree in Christian Leadership & Church Ministry with a cognate in Biblical Studies and a minor in Graphic Design. He also served as a worship leader, writing music and touring with the university’s worship team, the Liberty Worship Collective. As a LWC vocalist, Trenton led worship weekly for over 13,000 students at Liberty’s chapels, and he traveled throughout the U.S. to lead worship at a variety of festivals, conferences, and churches.

Trenton and his wife, Mariah, are currently serving as part of the worship staff at Legacy Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico - doing pastoral ministry across the six campuses, managing 200+ worship team volunteers, leading worship at weekend/midweek services, and writing and releasing music. They also travel often and lead worship at a variety of youth camps and conferences.

Trenton says, “I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today if it were not for the way that my teachers, friends, and other faculty members invested in me throughout my time at Linfield. I used to be a ‘Christian’ who claimed to love Jesus but chased solely after flashy lights and praise. I was headed down a path of destruction, and I strongly believe God put Linfield in my life to save me. In high school, I was challenged daily by Mrs. Wilson to be ‘eternally-minded’ and intentional about making decisions that reflected the nature of Christ and expanded the Kingdom of Heaven. I was given the opportunity to serve in Mexico with Sr. Ortega, where I got smacked in the face with humility and for the first time understood that the world did not revolve around me. I was part of a student body and had friends who agreed that it wasn’t cool to be defiant and hateful, but instead tried to live above reproach and love one another. I was encouraged to worship the Lord openly and freely in and out of the classroom by every teacher and by my peers. I had teachers like Ms. Blades and Mr. Hernandez who spent countless hours not only helping us to develop strong academic disciplines but also to apply biblical principles daily by living a life of prayer and dependence on God. Linfield prepared me academically for college, but I’m eternally grateful for how it taught me to positively impact my culture, community, and world. The Lord used that school to change the trajectory of my life, and it has helped me start to become the leader and example He’s called me to be. I know I’m called to be a servant, a lover of people, and above all, a worshipper, and I have such a better understanding of what all of that means because of the way Linfield equipped me.”
