Why Linfield?

Christ-Centered Heritage

Why Linfield?

Because Linfield students are challenged through Biblical study and encouraged to step outside their comfort zones to serve the Lord and the world with their gifts and talents.

What sets Linfield apart in terms of its Christ-centered mission? Here are just a few examples.

Joy in Worship

If you ever want to experience true joy in worship, head over to one of the elementary school chapels. In this weekly service, students gather together to pray, dance, and sing to the Lord at the top of their lungs. Led by their peers in the worship band, the kids typically sing a handful of songs before settling down to hear a focused message about God's love and how they fit into His plan. Speakers often include teachers, staff members, parents, and even high school students who come down to present their testimonies or dramatic/musical performances. It's a joyful, impactful time, one that centers our school in the midst of the craziness and reminds us of who we are as God's children.

Putting Feet to Our Faith

We believe that we are called not only to learn about the love of Jesus but to put it into action. Consequently, we are committed to providing a variety of opportunities for our students to put feet to their faith by serving others in the community and around the world. Elementary students pack Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes for kids in third world countries and hold food drives for local pantries while middle school students write letters to soldiers and make flannel blankets for local hospital patients. High school students visit orphanages and build houses in Mexico, and in the past, they have even traveled to China to show love to orphans with Bring Me Hope. With each opportunity, students are able to meet the physical needs of others, to demonstrate Christ’s love, and to participate in His ministry in a beautiful and tangible way.

Winter Mountain Retreat

There probably aren't many schools willing to take a break from classes at the end of January in order to load hundreds of teenagers on buses and lodge them in the mountains for three days of worship and adventure. But we're not like most schools, and Winter Mountain Retreat consistently serves as a defining moment, not only in the school year but in the spiritual lives of our students. Removed from the distractions of everyday life, our students and faculty are able to regain their focus through teaching and worship, develop stronger bonds with one another, and encounter the love of Jesus Christ in a real and powerful way. We humbly seek God's voice and presence; He does the work, and hearts are forever changed.

A Spiritual Family

We were never meant to walk this journey of faith alone. The Bible reaffirms over and over again that we are called to use our individual gifts and talents to work together as one body in Christ. So at Linfield we know that we are much more than a random group of people thrown together by circumstance. Our sovereign God brought each and every person here at this specific moment for a specific reason.  You have an integral role to play in this community, and you're never alone. We pray for one another; we study God's Word together; we challenge each other, and we worship our Savior side by side. Together we are part of a spiritual family, unified in love and purpose.

Being Real

Living a life of faith is difficult, and the process of being transformed by the love of Christ takes time. So we believe it's actually ok not to have everything figured out just yet. Instead of putting on a facade and pretending that we have all the answers, we aim to provide a safe community, one that allows us to be authentic about our struggles, triumphs, and questions. As we delve into the Truth of God's Word and engage in honest conversation, we wrestle together with what it truly means to follow Jesus.
