Why Linfield?

Distinguished Academics & Faculty

Why Linfield?

Because our experienced faculty is dedicated to teaching students how to think critically and pursue truth through the process of discovery.

What sets us apart in terms of academics and faculty? Here are just a few examples.

Above & Beyond

Whether it's Mr. DelaRosa showing up at 6:30 a.m. for math tutoring, Mrs. Hawes skipping lunch to pray with a student who is having a bad day, or Mr. Mitchell spending an evening digging a hole on the back property to bury bones for a forensic archaeological dig, Linfield teachers consistently go above and beyond in order to help their students achieve success. With an average class size of only 22, our teachers know who you are. They know your habits, your goals, your strengths and weaknesses, and they will challenge you, sometimes far beyond what you thought possible. Always ready with extra assistance, advice, or an encouraging word, they are truly passionate about helping you reach your potential, not only in class but in life.

It's Never Boring

There is nothing boring or predictable about Linfield. If you want proof, just look at the middle & high school colorful block schedule! We have fun mixing things up and challenging ourselves, and we know that not all learning happens within the walls of a classroom. So we take elementary students to Sacramento to learn about California history and to learn how to serve others at leadership camp; middle school students collaborate at Astrocamp and even travel to Washington D.C. to gain a better understanding of our nation’s history, and high school students attend a mountain retreat for a time of spiritual growth and renewal. In all these experiences, students are encouraged to ask questions, try new things, and work together, and in the process of discovery and collaboration, they make memories that will last a lifetime.

Great Expectations

Elite athletes typically prefer to train with the most competitive men and women in their sport because it challenges them to keep raising the bar even higher. In the same way, our students benefit from a well-established tradition of academic excellence and success. It’s just not cool to be passive, uninterested, or mediocre at Linfield. Not only does the culture celebrate hard work and achievement, it expects it. As they embrace rigorous course loads and excel in their classes, our students encourage and motivate each other to keep striving and to accept nothing less than their very best. One end result? Our students have some of the highest ACT/SAT scores in the valley, and an average of 93% of them go on to college!

Exceeding the Standard

In stark contrast to the current educational landscape which often reduces students to a test score statistic, we believe that each child is a beloved individual, blessed with unique strengths and abilities. While we are aware of national objectives and while we certainly meet them, as a Christian school, we are not limited by them. In fact, our goal as a college preparatory institution is to exceed these minimum standards. We use an advanced comprehensive curriculum, and often our teachers even target benchmarks a grade level ahead, allowing students to embrace the challenge of more difficult material. At Linfield, your child's educational progress isn't dictated by an arbitrary set of bureaucratic goals; instead, it is lovingly planned and maintained by the teacher who knows him/her best. We have the freedom to meet students exactly where they are, and we believe in their limitless potential.

Specialized Programs

As the college and career landscape grows increasingly competitive, we know it’s important for students to distinguish themselves, not only through comprehensive study, but also through unique real-world experiences. That’s why we’re excited to offer specialized high school programs to provide students who are seriously considering a specific career (or area of study) an invaluable opportunity to explore their interests in depth through rigorous course work, co-curricular activities, and hands-on experiences. When students  participate in the Biomedical Science, Engineering, Business, and Fine Arts programs, not only will they have gained skills and a solid foundation for their future careers, they will be prepared for a life of purpose and leadership in a global society.
