Harken Family

Kyle and Kate Harken were both products of public schools and hadn’t really thought about private Christian schools as a choice for their family; they didn’t even think it was financially feasible. However, their oldest son, Isaac (4th), had gone to a Christian preschool, and when he started kindergarten, he began talking about how much he missed learning about Jesus in school. They knew of Linfield because Kate’s sister works here, so they enrolled Isaac for first grade and haven’t regretted it for a minute. Their second son, Ezekiel, also attends now as a 2nd grader!

In their own words, here’s how they describe their Linfield experience:

I love seeing the kids worship the Lord at chapel on Friday. It is a blessing to hear them sing, and it’s an encouragement to hear the gospel shared regularly with my kids and their friends. While I value education very highly, the eternal impact of Linfield happens at the heart level, offering the hope and knowledge of salvation through Christ Jesus.  Most clearly, I remember the last chapel Pastor Darius (from Reliance Church) gave shortly before he passed away unexpectedly last year. He laid out the gospel of Jesus Christ to our children plainly and clearly, and it was beautiful. In the midst of his tragic passing, I can’t imagine a better last message before heading home to Christ. That is the beauty of the Linfield community to me.
