Sawyer Guthrie

Class of 2017
Sawyer is an extraordinarily talented artist, and after graduating from Linfield in 2017, she mentored under professionals as part of a mastery program where she learned the fundamentals of oil painting and explored what it means to become a successful artist. Today not only is she a full time faith-based artist, she is also an entrepreneur and business owner, operating restaurants alongside her family (they have been in the chicken finger industry since 1965!). She is excited to one day pass down the business to her children as the fourth generation. Sawyer lives on a farm in Florence, Alabama, where she takes care of her chickens and bee-keep, goes horseback riding, and serves in children’s ministry/teaches art classes at her church.

She says that her favorite part about Linfield was the impact her teachers had on the students, specifically in the way they loved and cared for them, shared the gospel, and prepared them to spread their wings in the real world. She says, “I am grateful for the freedom Linfield gave me to worship God while receiving an education! It was life-changing to be able to talk about my faith with fellow students, faculty, and teachers. I formed life-long relationships because we all had one goal in mind - being conformed into the image of Christ! Linfield was a place of acceptance and kindness, and I appreciate how everyone was uplifting and kind to their peers, making an effort to encourage them in their differences instead of seeking to conform to what was ‘popular.’”
