Moldae Family

When it came time to select a school for their family, Kelly and Jade Moldae found it to be a pretty straightforward decision. Kelly is actually a Linfield alum from the Class of 2008 and has a strong connection to this community, crediting it for shaping her faith, preparing her for higher education, and inspiring her to serve others. So when their oldest son was ready to start school, it was an exciting time for Kelly and Jade as they had dreamt about their kids getting to become Linfield Lions. Jackson is now in 2nd grade, and they’ve not only seen his spiritual growth soar, but they’ve watched him grow in his love for reading, math, and science. He has also developed deep friendships with his classmates, and he is excited to go to school every day. Kelly notes that she can’t say enough about how wonderful the community is and how blessed they have been by the hearts of the faculty and staff who continue to pour into the next generation. They are excited for their son Hudson to begin kindergarten this fall. 

In her own words, here’s how Kelly describes their Linfield experience:

Our experience at Linfield has been outstanding. Thanks to the numerous kindergarten events where one or both parents could attend classroom celebrations, we were able to develop friendships with several other parents, establishing a community both inside and outside of school for our kids to be around like-minded families. Mrs. Schmit also had such a positive influence on Jackson’s first grade experience! He really enjoys reading, and Mrs. Schmit took note and sent him home with her personal chapter books to continue fostering his love for the written word. Before meals and at bedtime, Jackson will eagerly pray and often includes the needs of others in his prayers, completely unprompted. It’s obvious he’s learned this as a result of being a student at Linfield. In fact, for my husband, one of the moments that instantly affirmed our choice was in the opening week of kindergarten when Mrs. Leighton opened the school year in prayer and when he watched the first Friday school. He grew up in public school and was amazed (and thankful) his kids will grow up praying with their teachers and singing songs of praise to Jesus with their peers every week. 

Over the past two years, we’ve also been honored to partner with Linfield through our non-profit, Gifts of Joy. Each year, students, parents, and staff have gone above and beyond to provide toys and prayers for kids who are bravely fighting battles against cancer. Beyond the tangible gifts, the kids have learned compassion and empathy, as they earnestly want to bless the kids in the hospital who are sick, something that stretches their minds beyond themselves to think of others. It’s another way the Linfield community is a multiplier in demonstrating God’s love for those in need. I’m grateful for how these experiences and opportunities will equip my children for life and shape their minds far beyond anything a simple textbook could offer.
